Two significant milestones. Two challenging exhibitions!
Meet us in Florida for NPE 2018
We hope you will plan to see us at the National Plastics Exhibition in Orlando Florida may 7-11 2018. FAS Peco will be in the west hall in booth W 2691.
During the show the FAS Peco technical team will be demonstrating our industry leading bag sealing and perforation as well as coreless winding technology. Watch film being converted, and take home a roll of bags as a souvenir. Our demonstration will feature the Euroline, our unitized cost effective solution for in or out of line bag on roll production. The rolls we produce will be wrapped with a printed label by out tape unit TU225, which is an available option for your existing SP500 or TW475 winders.
Stop by, say hello, and talk to our experts. We want to hear about your film converting applications and challenges and discuss with you our solutions. Check your email soon for a link for complimentary show passes.
FAS Converting and Peco mark two significant milestones in 2018
40 years young
FAS Converting was founded 40 years ago in Ystad, Skane Sweden.
Our roots however go back even further in time as part of the Swedish industrial group Persöner Verkstad. In the 1960’s, that group formed Persöner Converting Machinery AB to produce bag on roll equipment.
In 1978, Messrs Flyghagen, Andersson and Stenqvist, left the Persöner group and formed FAS Converting Machinery AB, as we know it today.
The FAS company was founded around the concept of in-line bag making, focusing on rolled products. In-line bag production was somewhat of a novel idea in Europe in those days.
The concept of producing trash bags in line with the extrusion process was developed and promoted in the USA, but primarily for flat folded trash bags, a brand new product on the market there. The founders of FAS Converting had a vision to combine in line production and the European preference for coreless rolls, something which hadn’t been done before.
FAS designed its first machines to be robust enough to withstand the demands of 24/7 production, and developed a unique sealing system for a continuously moving web, well suited for inline production. This basic concept is in use today.
In the early 1980’s Peco Inc. was founded by Herb Baier to supply FAS Converting equipment in the United States as he saw increasing interest in rolled products in North America. In the mid 80’s Peco began manufacturing bag machines and winders in New Jersey under licence from FAS Converting. Herb was soon joined by his son and by our current parts manager Emilio.
The majority of companies in North America today refer to their coreless winders as “Peco’s”, many are more than 30 years old working every day!
As raw materials changed with the introduction of HMWHDPE, and LLDPE, gauges reduced and line speeds increased. FAS and Peco were right there innovating newer, faster equipment to meet the challenges of the market, ever faithful to the core principle of 24 /7 production dependability as a function of simple innovative designs. “Sophisticated Simplicity” was more than a slogan, it was a way of life.
When Herb Baier retired, FAS Converting purchased Peco and continues to supply the N American market today with new machines, parts, sales and technical service.
No company is successful without its valuable customers, and nowhere is this truer than with Peco FAS.
We are grateful for the support, and collaboration with customers, worldwide. New designs might be from FAS or Peco engineers, but they all begin with a conversation that goes something like “this is a new bag I need to make, can you help me do it?”.
FAS Converting and Peco engineers worked together to develop draw tape equipment, and rotary die cutters, folders, tape units and other equipment.
Another significant milestone achieved in the North American market will be observed this year.
Approximately at the time of the NPE 2018 in Orlando Florida (May 7-11), we will deliver our 1,200th piece of equipment to North America.
This includes equipment manufactured in Sweden, as well as in the USA. This does not include used equipment that has migrated here from Europe.
We are proud of this milestone and thank you our customers for your support that makes this possible.
Contact us with your film converting application and challenges, it will be our honor to discuss them with you as we have been doing for 40 years.
